The Bacolod Business Community (BBC) brings together local entrepreneurs, innovators, and go-getters to grow, connect, and thrive. We are more than just a directory; we are a dynamic ecosystem.
In a city known for its sweetness, we believe the sweetest success is shared. We’re all about sharing ideas, building strategic partnerships, and making business in Bacolod smarter, faster, and more fun. Whether you are a solo-preneur working from a home office or a scaling SME, the BBC provides the platform to elevate your brand within the local and global market.
In the aftermath of the pandemic, many businesses were deeply affected, especially micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and market vendors. A significant number were forced to close, while others struggled to survive due to mounting losses, rental obligations, taxes, daily overhead expenses, and the continuing impact of economic inflation. During this difficult period, many business owners found themselves without a unified voice to express their concerns and lacked access to organizations that could provide education, training, and business loan opportunities to help them recover and rebuild.
Bacolod Business Community (BBC) was founded through the initiative of two business leaders, Mr. Samuel John Solon and Mr. Danilo Peñaverde Jr. Driven by a shared vision, they began exchanging ideas on how to connect market vendors and small business owners with banking and lending institutions that could provide financial support and guidance. Their goal was to create a platform where local entrepreneurs could access the resources they needed to sustain and grow their businesses.
As discussions progressed, they brought their concerns to then-Vice Mayor Elcid Familiaran, who was one of Mr. Solon’s clients. Recognizing the importance of supporting local entrepreneurs, the Vice Mayor offered to help gather business owners at his residence. On February 8, 2024, a meeting was held where representatives from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), LandBank, and SB Corporation provided education, updates, and guidance specifically tailored for market vendors and small business owners.
From that point forward, more members of the business sector began to recognize the importance of unity and collective action. The growing interest and participation strengthened the movement to formally establish an organization that would represent and support the local business community. On May 28, 2025, Bacolod Business Community was officially registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) as a non-profit organization dedicated to helping and empowering market vendors and MSMEs in Bacolod City through support programs, partnerships, and opportunities for growth.

Across the region, MSMEs play a vital role in sustaining local commerce, generating employment, and driving innovation at the grassroots level. The strength of Bacolod’s economic landscape lies in the diversity of its small businesses — from traditional enterprises rooted in local culture to emerging digital ventures exploring new market opportunities. This diversity creates a dynamic environment that benefits from structured collaboration platforms, commerce networks, and enterprise communities that foster connection and cooperation among businesses.
Within Negros Occidental, business organizations and commerce groups increasingly recognize the importance of interconnectivity. Access to reliable business contacts, opportunities for collaboration, and visibility through organized listings and directories contribute to a more resilient commercial environment. For companies and institutions seeking to understand the local market, business associations and community-driven networks serve as valuable entry points into the region’s economic landscape.
Bacolod’s ongoing economic development is also supported by partnerships between the private sector, local organizations, and community initiatives. Collaborative efforts — whether through business events, knowledge-sharing sessions, outreach programs, or industry dialogues — help cultivate a culture of cooperation that strengthens both individual enterprises and the broader marketplace. These interactions enable businesses to explore strategic alliances, exchange insights, and identify opportunities that may not emerge in isolation.
As the city advances toward a more digitally connected future, the presence of organized business platforms contributes to improved discoverability of local enterprises and facilitates meaningful connections beyond geographic boundaries. For organizations exploring market entry, investment potential, or collaborative initiatives in Bacolod, understanding the structure and composition of its MSME community provides valuable context for engagement.
Ultimately, the continued growth of Bacolod’s enterprise community reflects a shared commitment to progress, adaptability, and collective success. Bacolod’s economic landscape has steadily evolved into one that supports the expansion and sustainability of micro, small, and medium enterprises. Known for its strong local commerce, entrepreneurial resilience, and community-driven initiatives, the city continues to demonstrate how regional centers can cultivate meaningful business opportunities beyond major metropolitan areas.
Several factors contribute to Bacolod’s appeal for MSME development. The presence of diverse industries — including retail, food services, creative enterprises, digital ventures, and traditional trade — creates a balanced commercial environment where businesses can coexist, innovate, and collaborate. This diversity not only strengthens the local supply chain but also encourages cross-industry partnerships that enhance market stability.
Infrastructure improvements, digital adoption, and the increasing visibility of Bacolod enterprises further support business growth within the city. As more businesses leverage online platforms and collaborative networks, they gain greater reach while maintaining strong local relationships. These developments enable MSMEs to remain competitive while preserving the community-oriented character that defines Bacolod commerce.
Equally important is the culture of cooperation that continues to shape the city’s entrepreneurial landscape. Business-led initiatives, knowledge-sharing activities, and collaborative programs contribute to an environment where enterprises can exchange insights, explore opportunities, and adapt to evolving market conditions together. This collective mindset reinforces Bacolod’s reputation as a city where MSMEs are not only present but actively supported by a connected business community.
